Rose Bruford Universal Voices Symposium 2007

Sheer Lunacy created various installations which the public could interact with.

The Ribbon Room

A space created out of 800m of red, blue and pink ribbon wound around four blossoming trees. A Turkish carpet, homemade cupcakes (with blue and pink icing!!), a chaise-lounge and couches were rather insightfully placed inside for maximum relaxation and enjoyment. It somehow became a rather popular place for flirting couples and chilled-out smokers.

The Portrait Tree and Bath

A blossoming tree was hung with clothes lines and wooden pegs - and passers-by were invited (by a lovely painted sign) to finger-paint their own portrait and hang it on the tree. Then they were encouraged (by the lovely painted sign) to wash their paint-y fingers in the depths of the rather handily placed bath that was filled with rubber ducks enjoying the slanting sunlight through the leaves. Several 'self-portraits' of Shrek and other mythological monsters gave us a rather interesting insight into the psychology of the painters!

The Sand Pool

A paddling pool full of sand and exciting beach monsters, such as plastic crabs, luminous yellow buckets and crazy-blue spades somehow turned into a rather nice place to sit and enjoy a few beers with a view over the Portrait tree and the psychologically-strange painters.
